The START (Simple Triage And Rapid Treatment) method assesses each patient in under 30 seconds. Walk through steps 1โ4:
1
Can the patient walk?
Ask the patient to walk to a designated area. Walking wounded are categorised GREEN regardless of injury type.
โ YES โ ๐ข GREEN (P3)

Check radial pulse / capillary refill
Press fingernail until white, release โ should pink back in <2 seconds. Or check radial pulse at wrist. Absent / slow = RED.
โ Present / <2s โ Step 4
โ Absent / >2s โ ๐ด RED
